Polypharmacy in older adults by Gerri Kaufman, Journal of Nursing Standard


 







Summary : This article explores the issue of polypharmacy in older adults. The physiological changes in organ function in older people and the effect of this on pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics are discussed. The risks of adverse drug reactions and adverse drug interactions linked to polypharmacy are explored. Strategies to achieve optimal prescribing in older people are considered. 

RumusanArtikel ini meneroka isu polifarmasi pada orang dewasa yang lebih tua. Perubahan fisiologi fungsi organ pada orang tua dan kesannya terhadap farmakokinetik dan farmakodinamik dibincangkan. Risiko tindak balas ubat dan interaksi ubat yang berkaitan dengan polifarmasi diterokai. Strategi untuk mencapai pengambilan yang optimum pada orang tua dipertimbangkan.

Abstract: Osteoporosis is a multifactorial chronic disease that is characterised by low bone mass. it is important that practitioners are able to identify patients who have or are at risk of developing osteoporosis so that appropriate steps can be taken to diagnose the disease and offer patients appropriate treatment and information on specific lifestyle interventions.  

Abstrak : Osteoporosis adalah penyakit kronik multifaktorial yang dicirikan oleh jisim tulang yang rendah. Adalah mustahak bahawa pengamal perubatan dapat mengenal pasti pesakit yang mempunyai atau berisiko terkena osteoporosis dan langkah-langkah yang sesuai dapat diambil untuk mendiagnosis penyakit dan menawarkan rawatan dan maklumat yang sesuai kepada pesakit mengenai intervensi gaya hidup tertentu.

Management of Cellulitis After Insect bites by Nick Price, Journal of Emergency Nurse


 









Abstract : Emergency staffs must be able to manages patients with undifferentiated and previously undiagnosed conditions. Cellulitis for example is often seen in emergency departments and must be assessed correctly to ensure early treatment and reduces patients risk of developing systemic sepsis. This article uses case study to describe the assessment and management, including examination techniques, of patient admitted to ED with cellulitis after an insect bite. 

Abstrak  :  Kakitangan kecemasan mesti dapat menguruskan pesakit dengan keadaan yang tidak dibezakan dan sebelumnya tidak didiagnosis. Selulitis misalnya sering dilihat di jabatan kecemasan dan mesti dinilai dengan betul untuk memastikan rawatan awal dan mengurangkan risiko pesakit terkena sepsis sistemik. Artikel ini menggunakan kajian kes untuk menjelaskan penilaian dan pengurusan, termasuk teknik pemeriksaan, pesakit yang dimasukkan ke ED dengan selulitis setelah gigitan serangga

Management of Miscarriage and Ectopic Pregnancy by Udo Marquardt, Journal of Emergency Nurse


 







Abstract : The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (2010) estimates that 137,000 women in England experience per vaginal (PV) bleeding and abdominal pain in early pregnancy every year, while the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (2006) estimates that PV bleeding occurs in between 10 and 25 per cent of women who are less than 12 weeks pregnant and that up to half of these women miscarry. Some authors suggest that care for such women could be improved and that their psychological needs could be met more effectively (Washbourne and Cox 2002). This article aims to help emergency department nurses give safe and compassionate care to women who experience PV bleeding by offering an overview of its pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment.

AbstrakNational Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (2010) menganggarkan bahawa 137,000 wanita di England mengalami pendarahan faraj (PV) dan sakit perut pada awal kehamilan setiap tahun, sementara Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (2006) menganggarkan bahawa pendarahan PV berlaku pada antara 10 hingga 25 peratus wanita yang mengandung kurang dari 12 minggu dan sehingga separuh daripada wanita ini keguguran. Sebilangan pengarang mencadangkan agar penjagaan wanita seperti itu dapat ditingkatkan dan keperluan psikologi mereka dapat dipenuhi dengan lebih berkesan (Washbourne dan Cox 2002). Artikel ini bertujuan untuk membantu jururawat jabatan kecemasan memberikan rawatan yang selamat dan penuh kasih sayang kepada wanita yang mengalami pendarahan PV dengan memberikan gambaran keseluruhan mengenai patofisiologi, diagnosis dan rawatannya.
